The E2 Flex is our entry-level smart EV charger, built for homes without solar. Charges up to 7.4 kW on single-phase power, adding up to 50km of range an hour to your EV. Includes smart scheduling and home overload protection. Comes with a 5m cable and a type 2 plug.

Specifications

Installation

Professional installation by a certified electrician or installer is required for this charger to function as advertised. This purchase option does not include installation services. You are responsible for organising a professional installation service and ensuring the installer follows all necessary installation instructions.

Please note that if you're in Queensland, installing a home EV charger that draws more than 20 amps requires active device management to manage electricity demand. Evnex chargers comply with this regulation by offering a 20A nameplate rating (4.6 kW), meeting the rules without additional hardware or restrictions.

Warranty + Compliance

Residential chargers have a warranty of four years, and commercially-installed chargers have a warranty of three years.

Connectivity

All Evnex chargers require an internet connection for continual access to smart features. This charger is Wi-Fi connectivity only. If offline for more than 28 days, this charger will lose access to some features such as smart scheduling and solar charging (if enabled). It will continue to operate as a basic 'plug-and-play' charger until it comes back online.

Upgradable features

If you get solar panels in the future, you can switch on solar charging with a one-time software upgrade ($349). Contact our support team when you are ready to upgrade.

If you've got solar now, or plan to in the near future, we suggest exploring our E2 Core or E2 Plus chargers, which come complete with built-in solar diversion.

What is the E2 Flex?

The E2 Flex is our most affordable smart charger. Grid-ready out of the box, solar-ready when you are. It charges up to four times faster than a standard wall plug, comes with overload protection built in, and gives you scheduling and app control from day one, so you can charge when power is cheapest without lifting a finger.

Does the E2 Flex work with solar?

Out of the box, the E2 Flex draws from the grid, but it'll still pull in solar if your panels are generating, same as any other appliance running in your home. The bit that makes solar smart, though (the part that knows when to slow down, prioritise excess solar, and avoid pulling from the grid) is sold separately. You can unlock that with a one-off software upgrade for $349. No electrician callout required, no fuss.

If you've got solar now and want full solar smarts from day one, the E2 Core is probably the better fit. If you're solar-curious but not solar-ready, the Flex gives you the option to upgrade later.

How fast does the E2 Flex charge?

Up to 50km of driving range per hour, depending on your EV. That's roughly four times faster than a standard 3-pin plug. A typical battery goes from 20% to full in about 6-9 hours (depending on battery capacity and variable factors) - either way, it is plug-in-after-work and wake-up-full territory.

What's the difference between the E2 Flex and the E2 Core?

The Flex is grid-ready now, solar-ready later (with the $349 upgrade). The Core comes with solar smarts built in. Both charge at the same speed, both have overload protection, both connect to the Evnex app. If you've got solar today or plan to within the next year, go Core. If you're charging from the grid and want the most affordable Evnex, go for the E2 Flex.

Can the E2 Flex schedule charging to use off-peak power?

Yes. Scheduling works straight out of the box, so you can set the charger to top up overnight, on a free power window, or whenever your electricity plan is cheapest. The app handles it from there.

Does the E2 Flex need Wi-Fi to work?

The E2 Flex connects to your home Wi-Fi to do the smart stuff: scheduling, app control, automatic updates, solar smarts (if you've upgraded). Reliable Wi-Fi at the charger location makes a big difference to how well the smart features run. If your Wi-Fi is patchy in the garage, we recommend the E2 Plus as it contains 4G connectivity as a backup.

Will the E2 Flex work with my EV?

If your EV uses a Type 2 plug (the standard for new EVs in Australia and New Zealand), yes. That's nearly every EV on the road here today. If you've got an import or older EV with a Type 1 plug, get in touch with sales and we can talk to you about your options.
